Default Mutated/Xanthic Hypancistrus

recently noticed one of a friend's Hypancistrus L401 transforming into Xanthic (yellow) form. the transformation started from the belly up. as the xanthic effect takes place the body becomes more yellow and currently it's a the stage where only the dorsal and small part of the head covered with original pattern.
even the dorsal is losing its marking as well.
well, you can see from the pictures yourself.

I wonder what's the trigger for such transformation.
i use the term xanthic as it is turning yellow and not platinum.

enjoy!

Wow... Is this a WC or CB? Xanthic change comes mostly in adulthood.

Wild caught bro, kept long already.
It is an adult female.
Dunno this transformation is permanent or otherwise.
Some reported temporary.

I've read somewhere, they suspect its the food that causes the morph. They "suspect" but till to-date no one can substantiate this claim.

As mention, there are many reasons why mutation occurs, most importantly is if their inherited genes are meant to morph or not.

That piece likely sensitive to some ingredient in the food. Just like aspirin, some can take and some can't. Some people need sunlight and some people cannot even let the sun touch the skin. Is he feeding the biofish food ?
