Sorry to hear of the unfortunate incident. Apart from adjusting the temp, dun think salt is tolerated by plecos. And do keep at least a piece of dw for it to suck on.

I have actually treated my L27 goldline for white spots using pre-mixed salt water plus alternate day water change around 50%...

I believe its inherent to Panaq and south american catfishes, often trigger by sudden PH change or water quality, it's very deadly to Panaq, eyes sunken in usually is tapao already, effect 90-100% water change daily, mortality is very high, they don't usually make it after the 3rd day, you can also try to PM, gecko who also have similar experience.

*There is no known commercial meds for it as far as I know.

*There are some meds but not available off the shelf and not advisable due to its
own volatility.( not proven, don't believe what they write over the internet )

*I have lost a titanic, Pacman and floweri to this "plaque" so its not inherent to
Panaqs but quite a few south american catfish. I have kept the 'sick' fish in a
comm tank, the others were not infected, but I have heard from friends, in a
Panaq comm tank, most of the fish were decimated within a day.

Don't believe everything you read from the internet, hobbyists here( singapore ) share same environmental specifications so the treatment or result can't be too far off, hope this helps and good luck!
