Can... Brownish or clay coloured sand will do the trick too

Sad to see such a monster congicus wasted.

Have you found out why it died? For it to grow to 24inch or more in 3yrs is a feat. You must have feed it with lots of food every day. Disect it to see. Maybe it has eggs that turn bad in its body or fatty internal organs that kills it.

BTW can anyone help me ID the bichir below, not the endi on the log? Is it an endy, lap, dabola or a new species?

Its about 2-3 inch only. When i first see it, look much like a endi, but as it grows bigger, the dark strips starts to fade to greenish.

Bro Kohaku, it looks like the lapen that TFI stocks. Got it from your contact again? Looks rather uniformly-patterned. The fading might be due to the colour of he substrate that you are using
