HOW WILL YOUR FISHES BE JUDGED?
Our Judging Manual is posted openly to make our competition TRANSPARENT and FAIR, and to let you know how your fish(s) will be judged. It is also meant to educate new Flowerhorn hobbyists on what are the desired traits to look for when choosing/buying new fishes. . |

Competition Update
Due to overwhelming response, the number of entries have far exceeded the number of tanks allocated for this competition. Good news is that the Organisers have agreed to increase the total number of tanks to 150 - 100 will be 3ft tanks for class A and B entries, and 50 will be 2ft tanks for class C entries.
Current status on entries are as follows: Class A - only 4 slots left. Class B - FULL Class C - FULL Thank you very much for your support. |

Refund of Entry Fees
Dear comp participants,
Vincent Ho aka Kao Luo and I would like to apologise to all of you for having to cancel the flowerhorn competition at Big Box at the last minute because the organizer failed to live up to his promises of providing us with the tanks based on our specs and setting them up on time for our benching-in. Both of us were at the comp venue on the first two days of preparation and we have tried our best to salvage the situation by constantly pressurizing the organizer to get things done but we only received lies and excuses from him during these 2 days. In the end, we had no choice but to cancel the competition because there was no way to bench-in our fishes. I can assure you that it is not an easy decision for us to make because we know how disappointed all of you will be, having to wait such a long time for the comp to materialize and having spent so much time/effort/money in looking for the right fishes and grooming them for the comp. We appeal for your understanding as Vincent and I are just as disappointed with the outcome, after spending so much time and efforts in attending meetings with the organizer, planning for the comp, getting and processing all the entries, preparing all the things for benching-in, and ending up getting played out by the organiser. From the time we decided to call off the comp, we had been chasing the organizer to return our entry fees. The organizer had given us an undertaking via email that he will give us a full refund within a week after the event ends (this Sunday). We will have to wait and see whether he lived up to his words. If not, we will consider taking legal action against him. In the meantime, for local participants, I need your help in providing me with your bank’s name (must be a Singapore bank), bank account number and account-holder’s name (if you are using another person’s bank account) so that I can transfer the entry fees to you when I received the refund from the organizer. Please ensure that the information you provide is correct before emailing to me as I will not be responsible if transfer goes missing due to wrong information given eg. wrong name, account number, etc. For overseas participants, Vincent will liaise with you on arrangement to return the entry fees to all of you. Sorry for any inconvenience caused to all of you due to the cancellation of the comp and thank you very much for your kind support and understanding. With best regards, DAVE AI Advisor, Flowerhorn Club Singapore Last edited by dave6238; 17-12-2016 at 11:35 AM. |

News that appeared in The New Paper on Thursday 15/12/16.
In the last part of this article, the Organiser told the reporter that there was only a slight delay in the set-up and insisted that Flowerhorn Club need not pulled out as just a few fish tanks weren't done yet. This is a blatant lie and the facts are as follows:- 1) The Organiser is supposed to complete the setting up of the tanks for us to bench in the fishes by 6pm on Wednesday 14/12/16. We had to postpone the benching-in time to 9pm because the set-up was far from ready at 6pm. 2) The Organsier is supposed to provide us with 100 nos of 3’ x 1.5’ x 1.5’ tanks and 50 nos of 2’ x 1’ x 1’ tanks for our 150 entries. All the tanks are supposed to come with blue oyama pasted on 3 sides, conditioned water, tank cover and light, heater, filter and air supply. When Vincent and I went down to check on the 1st day of setting up, we were shocked to see that the 3’ tanks were of the wrong size (39”L x 24”W x 16”H) and completely bare (without any oyama pasted). When we questioned the Organiser on the discrepancy, he said that he was played out by the supplier but he will get the oyama pasted on 3 sides of the tanks. He also assured us that everything will be laid out and fitted properly by the next day. 3) On the 2nd day of setting up (which is also the bench-in day), we went down again to check and discovered that only 64 3’ tanks were laid out, the tanks were still without oyama and fitted with weak lights, filters and air supply. The tanks were not washed and some of them smelt of silicon. As for the 50 2’ tanks that had been laid out, we were told by the Organiser that they had been given to the Discus group and he will set up new ones for us. 4) By 9pm on the 2nd day which is 3 hrs later than our original bench-in time, only 68 3’ tanks were laid out, water has not been treated, and the 50 2’ tanks were still piled up at one corner of the hall. Some of the participants had already arrived at the venue with their fishes and after looking at the set-up, they told us they were not satisfied with the condition of the tanks and do not want to enter their fishes. Based on this scenario, there is no way for us to conduct our benching-in and carry on with the competition and that is the reason why Vincent and I had to cancel the comp at the last minute. .
