What precious fish are you keeping?
Most tropical fish will nicely adapt to reasonable changes in water chemistry.
The key is to maintain consistency.

Weekly WC ain't that bad. I do WC daily (25%) when I'm not traveling.
The significance of WC is to refresh the water faster or on the same rate that your fish would polute it. First, you have to figure out the treshold in order to develop a routine. On a good scenario where you only have one fish in a large enclosure where you bioload is low relative to overall water volume, then frequency of WC can be reduced. The opposite applies.
