no, with that same breath i can quote multiple passages that speaks of God blessing those with whom he is please with, with great wealth.
then what do we say to that? it's a very chinese/ asian mentality that holds onto that image that religious ppl must have nothing to do with money. it's our very asian background that fashions that perspective.. i dunno, maybe the roots lie in buddist/ taoist/ conficious beliefs.. but the bible does speak of many of its great men that were blessed with wealth, as well as various resources.. |

I am not surprise with the pay considering what our garment have preach to all the singaporeans.
In order to prevent corruption, they have to pay themselve millions of dollar. In order to get the best talent, they deserve their million salaries. If singaporeans does not think garment pay is excessive, why can't a pastor pay himself 500k a year. |

i was simply questioning the assumption behind the negative responses to his paycheck..
the assumption that pastors cannot be associated with money or wealth... i know the bible well enough to know that God has no problem letting anyone have lots of money.. God's concern is only whether the man owns the money, or whether the money owns the man.. How to bystanders know and judge? well, they can't. So they shouldn't. It's between that man and God on judgement day. So logically, we should concern ourselves less with judging others and deciding whether their hearts and motives are misplaced, and concern ourselves more with our own personal account with our maker. |
