these r just like pH pens. transmedic's pH pen is quite gd. im using it. so if that american marine is gd i will consider getting their ORP n pH meters. transmedic only have pH cum temp meter. no ORP meter.

I personally have reservations on ORP pens as opposed to meters. ORP readings take a few hours to stabilize so i m not sure how a single reading by a pen works or is it accurate enough.
My personally preference is to monitor pH and ORP continously. Just like what Daniel says, u are keeping the water stable and these are devices to detect when something is going to go wrong( when pH or ORP is starting to show a downward trend): a PREVENTIVE measure When u find yr rays not behaving well and then test with the pen and realize orp and ph readings are crappy, things have already gone wrong ! |

I'm using American Marine ph meter. So far no complaints.. using for 2years.

OK but the probes are fragile and easily crushed by the adult rays. u have to put it out of reach of the fish .
