i don think offering livestock as prize is a good idea. it may not be what the winner wants and end up having to find ways to get rid of it. Vouchers would be a good idea. or some consumable aquarium products.

Haha
You can upgrade, or new media can be resold seperately easily at a slight profit esp if you buy 1K worth.

AF can offer to acution off the prize and the maybe 10-20% of the sales proceeds goes to AF while the rest of the monies the prize winner keeps

both side get $ and prize winner no need go thru hassle to resell the fish

From my personal past experience, I am not in favour of this as I have witnessed incidents where winners of the fishes just want to quickly convert their prize into cash. Therefore, they lelong the fish and this resulted in the fish fetching a below market price, causing some people to think that the fish contributed is of inferior quality. This does not do any good for the breeders who have kindly contributed the fish.

I have a suggestion to manage fishes that breeders would like to contribute as prizes. I feel that it could be auctioned, so that only people who like the fish will bid for it and the fish will thus get a deserving price and will be cherished. The final auctioned price (this will be exempt from any contribution to the Events Fund) will then be converted into a voucher, which can be used to purchase any fish at the breeder's farm. This will also allow the winner of the "fish" to have the flexibility to pick a fish of his choice (eg, prize is a SuperRed, but winner likes Crossback or fishes, if he/she wants to top-up for a Community Tank.)

What do you feel about this?

Based on yr suggestion, isn't it better to ask the breeders to contribute vouchers rather than fishes as prizes? Winners of the vouchers can then go to the breeders' farms to select a fish/fishes of their choice.....

I can imagine what will happen to me if I got a arowana for a prize. I will not even have a tank to house it, or even know how to look after it. It will be a disaster if I place it together with my guppies

Vouchers will be a better option cos the winner can choose what to buy .
