No secrets just followed what a lot of hobbyist here have done. Quarantine tank with ph 4.0 and ketapang leaves. Used Furan 2 as a precaution. Still lost quite a few in the initial quarantine period. Fed with live adult brine shrimps, fbw and pellets.

Do they like the high flow? I see the Varisberia sp Gigantea shows that the water flows very strong. The effect of the leaves looks nice though , impressive altums collection

Hi Kiang, Here is a video of the full tank. Its 6x2x2ft tank that I have for more than 20 year. Can see a lot of scratches on the glass. The filter is a DIY filter with a blue chemical tub. I place biohome plus media and peat moss in the filter. The tub is placed below the tank and water is pump into the tank and over flow into the filter. I also have a back flush in the tub to clean the filter. PH in this tank is at 6.5 Ideally if the height of the tank is 3ft it would be better as some of the altums are already 10in from tip to tip of the dorsal and ventral fins. |

I have a wave maker in the tank to try out and the altums seems to love it, so I left it there. There are some death spots in the tank but the altums seems to like to stay at the area where there is high flow. I also find that they love to pick food and eat when they are swimming against the flow. They think its live food . Think this might mimic the flow of the river in their natural habitat. |
