Yes, that's the main purpose of getting a solenoid. The timing can be set using an additional manual timer or electronic timer. Some people will practise injecting CO2 15-30mins before the lights are turn on.

then, this set quoted bought at $90/- will include the cylinder only or has a manual gauge probably at most right?
will this cylinder at this price be just 2L and how long does the co2 last if no solenoid to stop the regular flow of the co2 if just 2L capacity? thnks |

How long a tank will last, depends on how many bps(bubble per second) you set.(bubble size also makes a difference) Just a simple knob if using manual gauge.
Typically a 2L CO2 cylinder should last you 3-6 months. Setting at 1 or 2 bps and run 24/7. Most people using a 5L will top-up every year. Now it cost less than $70 for a 2L CO2 cylinder that comes with manual gauge, bubble counter and normal diffuser. |

You can try NA, Colorful and C328. I got mine from NA. It is black and grey.
2L tank should last you 6 months at least. Refill is around $15. |
