Just re-scaped my 1.5ft. First time using ADA soil. Was a nightmare.

Didn't. Had a base layer of Mosura Old Sea Mud followed by Power Sand. Then added on the Amazonia soil. When I started filling up with water, there was this layer of loose soil/mud powdery stuff that covered the entire surface and bits of stuff floating up together with the water level. Took me almost 30mins to clear out most of the "stuff" on the surface. Had quite a bit of grey-ish bubbles floating up as well. Quickly did my planted and left the tank overnight. Cleared up by next morning, but had this layer of brown leftovers all over the tank sides. Put in an airstone and it finally became crystal clear shortly after. Am hoping my a hairgrass starts to spread soon. Only turned on 1 of my T5 tubes. Hopefully don't see algae start so soon.

Bro, I will begin by adding some Java Ferns at the back of the wood so that your tank does not look so empty. Another good way to have an idea what to do is to look through google images and copy an aquascape you like. |
