Preventing Drop Eye for Aro
hi guys!
i bought a RTG abt a month back. he is probably 6 inches long now. i feel like my arowana is starting to develop the drop eye syndrome. the most serious case was today when i left for work and in an attempt to save electricity. i turned off all the tank lights. so the tank was in complete darkness. in my comm. i have the rtg (6 inches). two silver sharks and two silver dollars. when i came home from work to check on them. the first thing i realised was rtg's eyes was super droppy. like "sleepy eyes" super jia lat kind. but after the lights turned on. in about one minute his eyes were back to normal. but i still feel its slightly droppy as compared to before. (might be paranoia but still!!) can anybody explain why this happened? and if my arowana is really developing a drop eye syndrome what should i do to prevent it from occuring? its quite worrying ah. any advice will be very much appreciated! |

Hi brother TwistedPair.
May i ask, is your tank get any light? Or perhap room light? Too much lighting not good for your aro. Usually, i only open the light during feeding time and sometimes when i want to check on my aros. Most of the times sunlight and room light is sufficent enough. Another problem is, did you put a lot of things in front of your tank? Aros are very curious you know. If you put a lot of things in front of your tank, they will keep on looking and looking and looking and eventually their eyes will drop down... If you could, can post photo? |

simple add more aros. the aro drop eye cause keep looking at bottom of the tank where the rest of fishes are. 2 more aros will do the job haha.

no no not poisonous thoughts. look at it this way. why not buy now to prevent DE then to eventually end up buying one after another as poison slowly sinks in, and still end up with DE.
take away point: BUY MORE ARO! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA -SPLASH- *evil aro lover laugh |

yea.. its actually not exactly a sump tank.. i was along hougang looking at all the fish shops and this shop custom makes glass filters like the one i have. there is even a mini waterfall thing on the right side.yea. and the bracing has reinforced glass at the bottom.. the uncles add for me de! so no worries, it wont dropped. (hopefully not at least!) |
