It wont be easy for wild fish to survive in the wild in the first place. But yet they did.

Statistcally i dont think the few people here who objected speaks for the silient majority.
Why be one of the herd of sheep in the first place.

Anyway, by not passing fish around to fellow hobbyist, we are helping the local fish shop business. Tough business for them nowadays when so many shop closes after a short while.

Wow, my thread has hit 3 pages liao.
Your blatant ignorance is just astounding. Every single person who has replied to you on this thread has disagreed with your ways, and yet you still believe that there is nothing wrong with what you have done. In fact, from what I can see, you actually feel that what you have done is a good thing.

It is not because we are a "herd of sheep" just aimlessly following each other. It is because there is a clear cut reasoning as to why it is wrong and why it should not be done, REGARDLESS of any other "benefits" which you think are prevalent, (helping local LFS from losing business, turning a man made environment into a natural environment, making non-native fish from all the way across the world become native to this country, just to quote a few) as a result of your actions.

Furthermore, why are you so compelled to feel that this is something where opinions matter? There is no minority or majority here against you or for you. There is only a universal understanding. And we can only hope to best be able to portray the results of your action in a way so that you can understand why it was wrong to do so. We can explain as best as we can, after which from there onwards it is up to you whether you choose to reevaluate your reasoning or choose to stick with your existing one.

Some people obviously projecting themselves in the debate.

Nobody is talking about releasing birds or rabbits here. Neither is anyone talking about releasing some fancy goldfish. Why make such unsound arguments?

Please take note: We create a man-made freshwater environment. We release fish into it. Got this?? Our authorities does this when they construct the parrk or resevoir.
They dont dump dragon fish because it is too expensive. So they dump tilapias.

For your information, dragon fish is found in the wild for both east and west malaya. That includes singapore. Some of you may not even realize that singapore has wild tigers and elephants in pre-colonial era. Of course, the dragon fish was an natives here! It is mankind that has make it extinct in our overcrowded singapore.

Anyway, for those bros that bought dragon fish for luck, may consider releasing when they want to give up the hobby. This will help to to gain more luck. It is unwise to sell your luck or pass your luck around.

I know I would be persecuted by the self-righteous speaking up for the good of our environment.

How about culls? To release or to use as feeders? Money cant buy your conscience.

If you think you are correct, does the people of every nations need to pay millions of dollars to departments to come out with laws to forbit people to release non native fishes in their waters.

Think about what will happen to the eco cycle? Would you like your kids to be scooping fishes in a 'man-made' river with giant catfishes and gars swimming in it?

Singapore is different from other countries, other countries no need to modify big long kang into a "natural" river. if dont add fish into long kang how to start the ecco cycle in the first place? Wait for evolution to happen is it?

Actually u should be talking to pp that own giant gar and giant catfish? Dont assume everyone also blurr blurr leh. if our govt thinks that giant gar is causing the population to shrink, then they will ban giant gar liao. No need white paper.

For your info, AVA already has thoughts on banning toothy fishes into Singapore because of people like you. Releasing fishes into our waters. They are afraid that these non native fishes will harm the eco system in our waters. Because of people like you, then we hobbyist will have less beautiful fishes to keep in our tanks or ponds at home.
