Tank and Filter requirement?
Hi all,
I am currently using a 1.5Ft with Eheim 2213 filter for planted tank and shrimp. Wanted to switch to goldfish. Is this type of filter suitable or better to change to sump tank? Planning to keep 7-9 small goldfish. Think i need to upgrade my tank. What size is recommended? Thank you. |

30L per fish. You decide on the no of fish and tank size.

OHF or sump is better than canister filter. Last time I used canister filter and it is not easy to maintain.
When my ranchu laid eggs, I've opened up the canister filter, pour out the water and eggs, change filter wool and wash the filter sponge. If you feed heavily like 5-6 times daily, the canister filter will get choked in a matter of days. Your BB will not be able to handle the bioload. You can't monitor the condition of the filter wool in the canister filter unless you open it up to check. Now I keep a ranchu in a small tank with OHF and mechanical filtration. Alternate days change 90% of water and change filter wool every week. |

Ohf if stock too high is dangerous. For high bioload fish like goldfish, sump tank is better
