Chinese not pendatang, says Najib
BY D KANYAKUMARI

SHAH ALAM: Chinese are not pendatang as they are "sons of Malaysia" who have contributed to the nation's development and growth, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"You have done your part. You were born here and you grew up here, when you die your ashes will be scattered here,” Najib said at Gerakan's delegates conference on Sunday.

On Chinese schools, Najib reiterated that they "are here to stay."

“We are the only Southeast Asian country besides China and Taiwan that has Chinese education, so as much as you can complain, you cannot deny the benefit," he said.

Najib added that regardless of the type of education, it was important for everyone to work towards national cohesion and unity.

“National harmony and unity are ideas we must aspire to achieve. There will be challenges and many feel that the ideal situation would be to educate everyone under one roof.

“But we need to learn to judge people based on their character and not the colour of their skin.

"We must look at one another as fellow human beings, because regardless of Malay, Chinese or Indian, there will always be good and bad individuals,” he added.

He called on Malaysians to look at the retention of Chinese education in an objective manner.

“Though many feel that having separate schools is not ideal, it needs to be understood that it is not our social contract.

"Our contract allows different streams, and we should just live with it. There is no use in arguing as it was decided when we became independent. If you want to blame, blame Tunku Abdul Rahman or Tun Abdul Razak,” he said.

He added that Malaysia and Barisan Nasional will continue to be moderate.

What a twist of attitude towards the chinese! Racist PM Najib suddenly so nice to Chinese! WHY the prata? Kena pressure from China, or he realised the 22.6% chinese population can cause him to fall faster?

High Court orders Utusan to pay Anwar RM200,000 in damages

BY MAIZATUL NAZLINA

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has awarded former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) damages amounting to RM200,000 in a suit brought against Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd.

Anwar, on Jan 21, 2013, won the defamation suit against Utusan Melayu and its editor-in-chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Ishak for publishing two articles regarding his comments to the BBC during an interview on homosexuality laws.

High Court judge Justice Hue Siew Kheng ordered RM100,000 general damages and another RM100,000 in aggravated damages.

Justice Hue made the order on the grounds that there was malice made by the defendants and injury to Anwar's feelings.

She also ordered Utusan to pay RM8,000 in costs.

On Oct 8, Justice Hue dismissed Utusan Melayu's application to raise Anwar's previous sodomy convictions in the trial, in order to reduce the quantum of damages.

She ruled that she was bound follow the Court of Appeal's decision on May 29 in an appeal by Anwar against Senator Datuk Seri S. Nallakaruppan, Utusan Melayu and Abdul Aziz.

Seems to me, the tide is changing. Hope his next hearing on his current verdict is positive.

Build mutual trust, Najib tells religious leaders and followers
BY RAZAK AHMAD

KUALA LUMPUR: Religious leaders and followers are urged to make a firm commitment to promote a culture of tolerance among Malaysians, which will enable society to set aside its divisions.

“Religious leaders and followers must work hand in hand to build mutual trust, respect, understanding and co-operation because they are critical for the peace and security we all seek,” said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He called on Malaysians to be willing to listen to each other with open minds and open hearts.

“If we can do this, instead of emphasising points of contention among religions, we can focus more on what we have in common,” he said in his speech at the opening of an international seminar on “Religion and Peaceful Co-existence: Accepting Differences and Upholding Values” organised by the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (Ikim).

Religious leaders, scholars and inter-faith activists from various countries, including Malaysia, Turkey, Brunei, Thailand and Australia, are taking part in the two-day seminar, which will end today.

Also present at the opening ceremony was Ikim chairman Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Najib said that Islam, for instance, was a religion that respected cultural and religious diversity.

At the heart of Islamic teachings is an eternal message of justice and compassion, of equality and humanity, and of peace and solidarity.

The Prime Minister said that the values promoted by many religions have much in common.

“We should embrace these in the interests of all, rather than quibble and magnify the differences to serve political or strategic agendas.

“One way we can achieve peaceful co-existence in Malaysia and elsewhere in the world is to accept that there are differences in various religions, and then to come to a common realisation: that we can agree to disagree,” he said.

On the importance of wasatiyyah or moderation, Najib said that without this principle, Malaysian society would easily fall prey to extremism that would result in radicalisation such as the Islamic State (IS).

Najib added that in adopting the wasatiyyah, which carried the message of justice, doing good and being steadfast as well as rejecting all forms of evil, the different religions in Malaysia can act as bridge-builders to promote national harmony

Nothing will change even if Najib replaced, says Zaid
The Malaysian InsiderThe Malaysian Insider – Tue, Oct 27, 2015

Nothing will change even if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is replaced as his successor will likely have the same “corrupt” traits, says Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Zaid, who is a former de facto law minister, said the opposition showed power was more important to them than honest government, and pointed to the Selangor government as an example.

He said the opposition was still cooperating with PAS in Selangor, even though the Islamist party “supports Najib all the way”.

“They want to rule Selangor at all costs,” said Zaid in his latest blog post today.

“Which brings us to this very important question: why change Najib at all when the chances of his successor, whether from Umno, PAS or PKR, will have the same traits, will steal from public coffers, will tolerate corrupt political allies; will enrich his friends and cronies, but will share some of the spoils with a very forgiving rakyat?

“Nothing much will change my friends,” he said.

He said DAP and PKR’s “table-thumping antics” in the Dewan Rakyat were just for show, and accused the two parties of being too afraid to shun PAS or boycott Najib and his ministers.

“Remaining in power is of overriding importance, so important that DAP and PKR are willing to sacrifice the principle of honest government,” said Zaid.

He added that leaders in PAS, Umno and PKR reflected the attitude of Malays in general, whom he claimed as a community had “high tolerance for corruption and abuse of power”.

“They talk about the huge debts incurred by 1MDB but they will not compile a list of Najib’s wrongdoings so that he can be prosecuted.

“They will not march the street to demand Najib be arrested. None of them, with the exception of Tun Dr Mahathir, dare to talk openly about Najib allegedly stealing money or being allegedly involved in money laundering.

“They dare not talk about Najib subverting the cause of justice by dismissing the former Attorney-General, and the PAC, or colluding with the new A-G, or effectively disbanding the 1MDB task force and facilitating the illegal transfer of officers from MACC to other departments.”

Zaid added that the Malays did not regard honesty as an important quality among leaders and that they were more concerned over whether politicians drank alcohol or attended Friday prayers.

“I am sure if a Malay leader from the opposition one day forms the federal government, he or she will also benefit from this cultural uniqueness not found anywhere in other communities in the civilised world – feeling blasé when it comes to abuse of power and taking money from the government.” – October 27, 2015.

Brief background of Datok Zaid

Quote:
Dato' Mohd Zaid Ibrahim (born 10 April 1951) is a prominent Malaysian lawyer turned politician and is a former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of legal affairs and judicial reform. He was previously a Senator in the Dewan Negara, the upper chamber of the Parliament of Malaysia.

He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), before being suspended on 2 December 2008.

Resignation[edit]
After criticising the arrests of three prominent individuals—Democratic Action Party MP Teresa Kok, blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, and journalist Tan Hoon Cheng—under the Internal Security Act, Zaid resigned from the Cabinet on 15 September 2008.[9]

Post-Resignation[edit]
Zaid Ibrahim urged the Yang di-Pertuan Agong not to appoint Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Prime Minister of Malaysia, and instead appoint someone else from UMNO. He pointed out Najib has been linked on the internet and by political rivals to the brutal murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu. Zaid also cited the RM400 million in commissions reportedly paid by the Defence Ministry while Najib was minister for the procurement of submarines, and pointed out that Abdul Razak Baginda, Najib's friend, was an agent in the deal.[10] This was after Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister also said that Najib did not shine as a deputy prime minister and stated that Najib carried a lot of baggage into the Prime Minister's job.[11]

he was one of four Malaysians named by Forbes in its list of generous and interesting philanthropists in Asia,[2][28] for starting the Kelantan Foundation for the Disabled in 1998. The foundation provides free counselling services, physiotherapy, transportation and home visits to 2,400 disabled individuals from Zaid's home state of Kelantan, who are suffering from Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, blindness and other disabilities.

Umno division chiefs want action against errant leaders

PETALING JAYA - More than 75 per cent of Umno division chiefs want the supreme council to act against party leaders whose statements and actions have damaged the party, accor*ding to an internal poll.

Kapar Umno division chief Datuk Faizal Abdullah said the poll did not specify names but he did not deny that the names the division chiefs had in mind were deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, vice-*president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The poll conducted via the Telegram chat group exclusive only to Umno division chiefs showed that 154 of the 170 leaders in the chat group are asking for action against the culprits regardless of their position or status in the party.

"The overwhelming sentiment in the group was that, enough is enough," said Faizal.

Temerloh division chief Datuk Sharkar Shamsudin, the administra*tor of the chat group, said the ball was now at the feet of the supreme council to take the appropriate action.

Sharkar, a Pahang state executive councillor, said there was no need to make a formal request to the supreme council because the majo*rity of the supreme council members were also division chiefs.

"They will know what needs to be done when the supreme council meets at the end of the month," said Sharkar.

Muhyiddin's position as deputy president and Shafie's vice-president post may be in jeopardy while Dr Mahathir may find himself out of Umno for the third time in his life if the proposal is taken up by the supreme council.

Faizal added that the survey was done shortly after Muhyiddin's no-holds barred talk at a political forum in Johor Baru last Saturday.

The former deputy prime minister had also criticised Najib's handling of the 1MDB issue and said that the party was out to sideline him despite the sacrifices he had made.

"There was heated discussion in our chat room. They were upset that Tan Sri Muh*yiddin had called us cowards just because we don't agree with him and chose to support the pre*sident," said Faizal.

Those in the chat group were then asked to vote on the following motion: The division chiefs of Umno advocate that stern action be taken against those who are like scissors amid the folds (gunting dalam lipatan or internal saboteurs).

Within 48 hours, 76 per cent of those in the chat room had voted in favour of the motion.

The first to do so was Penampang chief Datuk John Ambrose, whose division made waves when it passed a resolution to censure Muhyiddin for failing to uphold the party's re*putation and honour.

"We are tired of the drama. They keep telling us they want to unite the party but their action is something else.

"It is like a marriage gone wrong, quarrelling in front of the children and the neighbours. It is not on for us," said Faizal.

Many thought that Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor was referring to Dr Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Shafie when he spoke of action against seven Umno members.

It is understood that he was referring to the seven branch heads from Negri Sembilan who had asked Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to resign as president.

The division chiefs' Telegram chat group has become an influential source of feedback for party leaders.

The group comprises 170 out of the 191 Umno division chiefs.

However, the Umno president and deputy president are not included in the group because members want to be able to discuss freely.

My guess, Umno will breakup soon...

Malaysia Home Minister vows stern action against those plotting to topple govt

Petaling Jaya - The Home Ministry will take stern action against those plotting to topple the Government, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In a written reply to Kulim - Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir at the Dewan Rakyat, the Home Minister said it was a serious matter as it put the country's economy at risk.

He said it was illegal for anyone to use undemocratic ways to try to bring down a government elected by the people.

"The Government will not hesitate to take action, using laws such as the Penal Code, Security Measures Act (Special Measures) 2012 (Sosma) and Sedition Act."

Abdul Aziz had asked the Home Minister whether the alleged complot to topple the Government was connected to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd controversy.

He had also wanted to know what the relation was between the two, if there was a link, and how the Government planned to fight it.

In August, Dr Ahmad Zahid exposed an alleged plot by the Opposition to topple the Government, and that the plotters were led by a leader who remains unnamed.

He said their plan was to get statutory declarations from Opposition MPs and pull in support from Barisan Nasional lawmakers to topple the Government.

Recently, former Batu Kawan Umno vice-chief Khairuddin Abu Hassan and his lawyer Matthias Chang were charged with trying to sabotage the country's banking and financial systems.

Speaking to reporters, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said only a communist party would obsessively track its followers' movements.

He was commenting on ongoing investigations by the Umno disciplinary committee into seven party members who were alleged to have acted against the organisation.

"All organisations have rules, and they have the right to investigate members.

"But only communist organisations will track members' movements, particularly organisations with weak leaders who want to ensure the members follow them," he said.

Asked if he was ready to face the music if he was one of the seven, Tengku Razaleigh said he was.

"I have been in the party longer than any of those people in there.

"Also, I have been in Parliament longer than any of them," he said.

On a possible plot within the party to remove deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Tengku Razaleigh said he had heard about it but didn't know if it was true.

"It is up to the people to decide if he should be kicked out.

"They have their own way of doing things, each organisation would like to see its people follow the leader, that's only natural."

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said he had not heard of such a plot.

"Maybe he (Razaleigh) knows better and should come forward to inform the party's secretary-general," he said.

Asked why the monthly supreme council meeting was cancelled, Shahidan replied that there should be no malicious presumptions.

"It is cancelled, so it is cancelled," he said.

Is it just me? I find this Home Minister/DPM very creepy and unscrupulous looking while his boss looks very greedy and scheming.
