Why everyone was talking about Naby Keita again last night…
Rb Leipzig played Bayern Munich last night and the Guinean put in a Man of the Match display in a 2-1 win which featured both a goal and an assist against one of the best teams in Europe.
Keita ran the show centrally, winning fouls, threading through-balls and contributing in the final third.

Salah moves clear of Messi in race for Golden Shoe
Mohamed Salah's four-goal haul in Liverpool's emphatic 5-0 win over Watford has moved the Egyptian forward into pole position in the race for the European Golden Shoe. The No.11, who also set up Roberto Firmino for the Reds' third strike against the Hornets on Saturday, took his Premier League goal tally this season to 28 to go clear of Barcelona's Lionel Messi and the chasing pack. The Golden Shoe is awarded every season to the most prolific goalscorer across all the top divisions in Europe, with Messi the current holder. Barca's Argentina star notched his 25th strike of the season on Sunday - scoring the second goal in a 2-0 home win over Athletic Bilbao - but couldn't keep pace with Salah's sensational quadruple. The Liverpool forward is now six points clear at the top of the standings, with Messi on 50 points in second. Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, Lazio's Ciro Immobile and Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane are locked together in third on 48 points. The Golden Shoe is awarded on a point-based system, with goals scored in Europe's top five leagues - England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany - multiplied by a factor of two and the next tier of leagues by a factor of 1.5. The last Premier League player to win the European Golden Shoe was Liverpool's Luis Suarez in 2013-14, when the Uruguayan striker scored 31 Premier League goals for Brendan Rodgers' Reds. The only other LFC player to scoop the award is Ian Rush, who scored 32 goals in the English top flight during the 1983-84 title-winning season. |

16 senior Reds on international duty
The majority of Liverpool's first-team squad will be in action for their countries during the forthcoming international break. A total of 16 senior players have received call-ups – here is a guide to when and where they are set to feature across the world in the next week… Four Reds were selected for England duty as the Three Lions prepare for this summer’s World Cup with friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy. Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will meet familiar faces in the form of Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk when Gareth Southgate’s side face the Dutch in Amsterdam on Friday March 23. England then host Italy at Wembley four days later, while the Netherlands – now under the guidance of Ronald Koeman – take on Portugal in Geneva on Monday March 26. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominic Solanke are with England U21s for the Cyrille Regis International against Romania on Saturday March 24 and European Championship qualifier at home to Ukraine on Tuesday March 27. Roberto Firmino can further his claim for a starting spot at the World Cup when Brazil face Russia in Moscow on Friday and then Emre Can’s Germany in Berlin four days later. The latter is expected to be fit for international duty – with the reigning world champions set to first play Spain on March 23 – despite being withdrawn midway through the first half against Watford on Saturday due to a back complaint. Fresh from his four-goal haul at the weekend, Mohamed Salah joins up with Egypt for a Switzerland-based camp involving fixtures with Portugal and Greece on Friday and Tuesday respectively. Sadio Mane is part of the Senegal squad to face Uzbekistan (March 23) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (March 27), while Simon Mignolet will be with Belgium for a friendly against Saudi Arabia, Andy Robertson is with Scotland to take on Costa Rica and Hungary, and Ragnar Klavan represents Estonia as they meet Armenia and Georgia. Finally, there is an adventure ahead for Ben Woodburn. The 18-year-old was called up by Ryan Giggs for Wales’ participation in the China Cup, which begins with a semi-final against the hosts on Thursday March 22. Czech Republic and Uruguay are also competing in the tournament in Nanning. |
