I do like their low power consumption but to have a whole board covering the tank due to their concentrated focus seems a hard call.

Perhaps it may be possible if
(a) Someone comes out with a 6500-8000k LED bulb
(b) Someone designs one that is aethesitcally pleasing.

I agree to wat u say. If someone really come out something like u say it is really possible to use it in planted tank. But i think the cost of it might be jus another expansive MH light. So in this way, this is jus another alternative for those MH light user.

led lights would be good for moonlights but due to the cost and penetration/coverage issues, not really suitable for planted setups.
