Go to Nature Aquarium and ask Mr Chan to replace the ballast ( if he can ) for you.

Can get from DIY shop also (If you know how to connect). I think the price around $25 (from a DIY shop if remember correctly).

Unhappy shape of balast is diffrent.

but the shape of the balast is unique to the casing of the pl light. those sold in diy shops could be used? or do i need to make some modificaton to them?

For 2 x 36W PL light, the ballast come with 2 sizes.
1) 21cm x 4cm (estimate)
2) 17cm x 4cm (estimate)
When comes to modification of the casing, then i have no idea.
But for connection still can help.

Default Some suggestion...

Hey think you can bring the lights down to gratiola at cantoment streets and ask Vic to repair for you or you get the ballast from him and DIY the repair yourself...It's quite resonable to get the ballast from him.The e-ballast that he carry quite unique and compact.

I have a 2 ft magnum which also died in less than 6 months. I was at Kingfisher and saw their new design 2 ft magnum so got it again. Sucker for punishment. One thing about KF though is that although the first one gave problems something like 3 times I had to bring it in, Ian took it back and got them to repair it. Eventually after the 3rd or 4th return I wrote it off. So far new one good. If it gives problem again I'm won't be getting another magnum.
