Thks sas! Did a search with the term channa melanoptera. Indeed it looks like it! Nice dark bluish tone!

C.melanoptera.does not have the eyespot on the tail.

yes this is a channa marulius. Flower patterns will develop along the side and and you can identify via the black vertical eye slit which is a giveaway.

It can grow up to 4ft but probably under 3 ft in a tank....still a large and very attractive fish. You will love it

Cool! Its accepting all kinds of dead meat i throw to it. Takes mp and sutchi fillet very readily. Not fussy at all.

I have another pluero that just refuses mp. Lol.....

Some updates on this fella. Eats almost anything from mp to sutchi fillet to floating and sinking pellets. Can see the flower pattern coming out too.
