Default Arowana Grade

Dear fellow forummers!

I have recently been thinking about purchasing an arowana. But of course as a newbie to this hobby, I have not much idea which grade of arowana or which type is the best in terms of a ranking of hierarchy system.

I went down to C328 this afternoon and saw many grades of arowana, but I saw Pahang Gold Cross Back and 24k Gold, prices were 780 and 590 respectively.

I was wondering if the experienced people can tell me which is the best grade etc and then from top down a 'ranking' system.

I am no expert.
Ignore the name given to the fishes.
Assuming all are active and no visible abnormalities in the tank, I will choose the ones with high shine, neat fine pearlies and good body shape.

These are names and branding... liken to Birkin, LV and Ferragamo.

Default advise - read thru...

'See fish dun see cert'.... how very true....

hope help u in better understand in purchasing ur new aro...

main five questions for urself..

1st) what's ur budget?
2nd) new into aro, start from simple like rtg then
3rd) what's ur current tank size? minimum 3ft (not for 13 inch onwards)
4th) what filtration system for ur water to counter it's bioload?
5th) what to feed?

u can't simply ask which is the best aro to buy cos there's just too many...
even if u got it, u most likely tLC with daily fear instead...

Totally agree with bro gtohow.
I think most importantly see what you like and what you can give it the best hospitality.

Of course I don't expect it to win or better then top notch quality. But it would be comforting to know that at least what I pay is decent for a starter and I'm not paying for nothing =(
