Injured Burundi frontosa
Encountered some disappointment with my Burundi spawning colony. Last week after water change I noticed my Burundi lying flat on the tank. Body bent
Asked youngman what I should do and he advice Epson salt. Didt have time cause had to book in to get so I made a make shift straightener Came back on Friday and it was still the same. Just that the body wasn't bent anymore. comtemplating whether I should cull it but I thought of giving it a chance and see how it goes from there. So now it's weak still but floating around in the tank. Just sharing my experience. |

Not an expert but seems like a swim bladder issue. My apistos used to bent like that and had to dose some yellow powder and black water as recommended by polyart uncle. It recovered and was back to normal for close to a month but died shortly after.
The life vest is a brilliant idea. All the best and speedy recovery |

You may try this:
1. Put into quarantine tank 2. Lower down the water level. 3. Put some salt & epsom salt. 4. Minor Feeding or even no. 5. Daily 10% wc. 6. If they willing to eat, try some green bean (those normally seen in fried rice one) Monitor the Water pH also I have used the above method to cure few of my fish,eg: bichir & gold fish. But dunnoe this method suit for burundi or not. Hope this would help you also |

Oic, but i though swim bladder issue mainly cause by bloat?
i think lower down the water level is the most important part that help fish as it can help to reduce stress or more energy to balance himself it high water level environment. |
