bro, for a change, why not put the cup only after your guy makes the bubble nest? like, put the cup on top of the bubble nest after your guy makes it?

If ur male betta is making a bubble nest it should be fine. U might consider using almond leaves instead of a cup. Other alternatives would be plastic cover of a container, clear plastic bag etc... Use the one which suits ur betta best...

IMO you male betta is not ready to spawn, the way you described about the bubbles all over places, I see like individual bubbles scattered all over the surface, these scattered bubbles are not bubble nest.

I experienced this last week, the male blow bubble nest in the jar container. When I put him in the spawning tank, he blew scattered bubbles all over the surface, under the cup got little bit of bubbles also scattered.

The female went under the cup see NO bubble bed (bubble nest) No sex.
I removed them after 4 days, no spawn happened.
