With some coral chips and Seachem lake salt + tanga buffer added, the water pH stabilized at around 8.

btw, they are taking pellets, frozen bloodworm, live brine shrimps and frozen mysis shrimp.

Thanks.

I had gone thru something similar initially.

For me, I thought that it might be hard to up keep as all my tanks are more with pH on the neutral side. However, after trying two Tanga fishes, I gained confident and now I have a tank just for these guys.

They are so colorful, don't need live feed and most of them don't get too large ... resisting is usually futile

FYI, up till today, I can still remember and impressed by how you arranged those DW in your pleco display tank (at the entrance) back in your Joo chiat shop.

So coincident, i just got 1 Xeno ochrogenys from Y618 today abt 5" and another rare breed "Nyanza Lac" abt 4.5". Will try tp post some pics once they settle.

Do you mean Xenotilapia ochrogenys "Nyanza Lac" or Xenotilapia flavipinnis "Nyanza Lac" ?
