My 6ft Sump Tank Setup...

Here is my 6ft sump tank setup, with very detail of the filter medias used. Hope it does help beginners out there, and welcome any comment to improve it some more. Enjoy...

Main tank size 8x3x3ft, total 2000 litres (500 gallons)
Sump tank size 6x2x1.5ft, total 300 litres (75 gallons) water filled

Sump tank has been divided into 5 compartments. Each compartment filled with different type of filter medias...

The 4th & 5th(last) compartments...

The 5th compartment, also the last compartment, pumps the water back to the main tank. Have planted some panda leaves to absorb nitrite (NO2), nitrate(NO3) such end result products that cant be dissolved by the BB.

Use a 2ft 20W ADA NAN light as artificial sunlight for the plant. Light operates for 10 hrs by the timer automatically. The sand used for the pant also from ADA which doesn't cause the water muddy. There are also 4kg of CoralChips to buffer the PH, and another 3kg extra of Biohome & Biohome+...

The 4th compartment. 1st layer covers with pink cotton wool, 2nd layer a thick black filter sponge. Middle is 20kg of Biohome & Biohome+. Then a layer of jap mat & a layer of Bioballs at the bottom to make sure smooth water flows...

The 3rd compartment. Again, 1st layer covers with pink cotton wool, 2nd layer 2pcs thick black filter sponges. Middle is 4 litres of Sera Siporak, 4 litres of AZOO Aion Active Filter & 5kg of Ceramic Rings. Bottom again a layer of jap mat & bioballs to prevent water clogged...

1st & 2nd compartments are full with Japanese Mat, and bottom filled with some bioballs... At the outflow pipes have place a net of lime stones to buffer up the ph slightly. PH maintain within range from 6.5 to 7.0, temperature in the range of 27 to 29 degrees. Heater used in btw the 1st & 2nd compartments, where u can see the red light in the pic...

An overall look of the sump tank again...

Previously I did 20% wc once per week. Since I had just added the plants 2 days ago, I'm still in the testing period to prolong my wc to 2~3 weeks once, hopefully as I wish, hehe...

Will use auto overflow system for all my future tanks (in my future new house), so don't need to do wc at all...

Just let 10% new fresh water run in the tank per day, the arowanas will be as happy as living in the heaven...
