for fx5 vs 2260.
2260 has a bigger filter media capacity. 2260 is more expensive than fx5. Both perform well and are durable |

personally i find FX5 one of the best canister to use.. silent yet durable.. there ar always ways to increase the biological performance.. do a search and you can find tips to "modify" it...
the self priming and the daily auto shutoff is wat i lyk most |

i m using fluval 206 in 2 of my 2 feet tanks. used for 2 years.
i m using ehiem 2028 n 2o78, from my experience, both are equally gd in terms of durability and performance. fluval parts can be gotten from petmart at serangoon too. |

ehiem = Mercedes
Fluval = Toyota Both works fine. Had an ehiem for more than 10 years still going strong. Fluval within 5 year no prob, after that i don know, maybe there are bro who use it more than 5 year without hiccups. |

Hi Yo,
Recently, I wrote an update on my experience with Fluval FX5. In summary, Fluval FX5 is a very good product which I have been running 2 x FX5 very well for the past 5 years 5 months. You never ever have issues on priming compare with Eheim and air being trap within the canister. Cheers, S1 |

Both brands makes great products. However, this is how I like to make selections:
1. Price Is the price difference too far off between these 2 brands, if not, ill go for eheim. If I'm really under tight budget, then fluval which is slightly cheaper than eheim. 2. Resale potential Eheim simply just have too good reputation for long service years. So its easy to resell. 3. Usage See which one suits my specific project better. price and reputation how good, not suitable for project means I won't buy. |

Thanks for all the sharing bros.
I have two further questions. 1) what parts normally breakdown first? Easy to replace and repair ourselves? 2) I like self priming function? Smaller mode Eheim and fluval got this function cos I dun own very big tanks so fluval 5 is too big capacity for me. |

I am using fx5 and so far it's quiet and gd but rather strong.
Only thing I don like is the water outlet design. Also the fasteners are rather fragile. I broke mine and use glue to fix it. |
