CB Delhezi can come in varying colors and patterns. Most of the "crazy" patterns you won't see on a wild caught. The thick banded ones it is possible to find bands similar on WC ones, but not often. Most WC have less banding. |

But that was quite some time ago, when that was the going rate for Dory-K Dels. Their Endlis were much more. More recently, I purchased a 4" Dory-K Endli for the same ¥17,500 and they had 2 more bigger 9" ones for ¥19,800. So I guess their Delhezi have gone down in price. They are a little pricey, but worth it IMO. Pictures never do them justice, in person you can see the quality of them. ONly thing is, they are hard to come across, even harder outside Japan. |

This is because, many many years ago when the Polypterus scene was booming here, there were breeding groups that were breeding for the sole purpose of "competition". There were a few groups, but the top 2 were "Dory-K" and "Gef". These guys would be there at every scene meet and show in Japan and outside Japan to show off their achievements. So the idea of having their "Japan Pride" be sold outside of Japan was not happening. Even the Bichir collectors shared that same value. Pathetic as it was, it was a common attitude here on the scene. The last few years has been different, and both groups still breed, though now it is a money thing rather than pride. (Dory-K fish still look amazing, though Gef fish are not so nice anymore) Unfortunately the "japan Pride" attitude still stands a little here, though not so bad. If you can find a Dory-K, go for it. IMO they are truly a must have for Bichir collectors, and the group have a great history. Again, Dory-K will come with a small certificate (looks more like a business card) and if you are lucky, they often come with a cool little keychain and tank sticker too! |
