I don't use incubator or make any special effort to induce heat to the eggs since from what I gathered on the web for this species is that the optimal hatching temperature is between 28-30 Celsius which is just right in our Singapore climate. I have attached a small digital thermometer to each box of eggs to check on temperature.

So far quite constant except for cool rainy days when temperature drop to 26-27. But still I guess that would be what the eggs will experience in the wild when it rains on the nest. The mother turtle couldn't be bothered to incubate the eggs anyway so I guess they should be able to withstand some environment changes.

Oh so far I have 4 hatchlings from 2 batches of eggs. Sadly one batch of eggs got some sort of mold infection and I threw away most of the eggs. I actually cracked one open to see a fully developed embryo but it is not moving and has some little white mold/fungus growing on the side of its neck.

I have another batch of 14 eggs out of which half seems fertile, hope for better results this time round.

I am using Perlite as medium. I did join Turtle Times (another forum) but only visit the forum occasionally.

For my 2 adult turtles, no I don't use any form of UV lighting as they enjoy the full afternoon sun outside along my house. Heat is not an issue in Singapore as most locals here can attest.

could you kindly share more information on the incubating process? i understand perlite is used to retain moisture. how did you add moisture to the perlite substance? guessing when the first batch turned mouldy was caused by too much moisture?
