Brought this estimated 10 inch plus
Black Ghost Knifefish ( Apteronotus albifrons )
out from my fgt.


Excellent specimen :

1. Rarely found above 10 inch piece.

2. Paddle tail intact.

3. Unblemished satin black body.

4. Hyperactive individual : rare for a black ghost.

5. Big eater.

Diet : frozen blood worms, sinking pellets, tetrabits.

These knives grow to a maximum size of 20 inches/50 centimeters in South American rivers, but usually grow to 12-15 inches in our tanks.

This piece is one rare sighting, a nearly one foot black apparition.

Attractive black satin body, undulating fins, caudal peduncle and tail with 2 white stripes and small paddle tail that is reminiscent of the black diamond ray's : peaceful regal fish that will complement a SA biotope or oddball comm tank.

Due to it's rare size, I am releasing it to be better appreciated in an aquarium tank rather than dumped in my fgt.
