Default canister to recommend for 2ft biotope

hi everyone,

looking to start a 2ft x 1ft biotope for fishes such as guppies, tetras, corydoras, loach. substrate used will be fine sand. looking at simple scaping with sand, rocks, wood and some plants.

have read up and found that canister would be great for a tank with sand substrate. this, could anyone recommend a model/brand that is affordable?

ps: if you think any other filtration is more effective, do share your views as well.

thanks all

i'm using eheim 2215(sub filter model) linked to a 2217 so personally i feel that the eheim classic series are awesome but of course being eheim the price will be higher than the other brands but the reliability is there.
