Better check what is applicable PQP. If can use Oct coe price with just a penalty of $100 that will be a big loop hole over-sighted by LTA. People will gamble if the first bid is much lower than the current. Unfortunately I renewed mine on Aug after seeing the higher Sep 1st bid and got no chance of enjoying the loop hole. Do let me know if I bang twice.

There are existing car owners who had been considering renewal of COE or changing of car, as well as those who are already considering buying of car. Quite expected, when COE price saw a drastic dipped, the number of would-be buyers increase. This matter of ppl wanting to buy, with the drop in COE, was in the news shortly after 1st bidding. However, it doesn't mean 2nd COE or even Oct COE bidding will see drastic increase. Everything is just speculative till the results are out. Make your guess, what would the likely successful bid price for 2nd bidding? Compute it into 3mths PQP. This can help you decide if you should renew before or after 2nd bidding is out. ---------------------------- My colleague has been considering renewal since about June (his COE due in early Nov). So I have been helping him monitor the successful bid price. Last month, he was quite keen to renew but I advised him to hold till Sept 1st bidding is out, before he decides if he should renew based on Aug or Sep PQP. But seeing the sudden and huge drop in 1st bidding, I suggested to him, he can afford to wait for 2nd bidding result. Even if it goes up much, it won't cause him to pay more. Mine was renewed in Jan as the used car i bought was due for scrap by late Jan. Didn't consider the $100 late renewal penalty. Last edited by globalcookie; 20-09-2017 at 12:03 PM. |

I called LTA to check this morning, and is clarified the PQP is the previous expired PQP + 100 penalty. Believe many would have thought of this and LTA not so stupid.
