I also second this. I used "pp bomb" on my new tank then (kiasu) to clean up the tank. Drained 50% and added prime to clear the residues. Added fishes immediately, some swordtails to kick start the tank cycle.
I think there's one article mentioning using colour as a gauge. From what i remember (better to double check), the colour of the water should be a light pink. Once this pink has turned to brown, the pp has oxidized and you can then drain out all the water and rinse it out. |

Need to disinfect my 30L tank.
May I know how much potassium permanganate do I need to add ? I plan to add the PP and continue to run the tank with the filter, gravel etc.. just without livestock. Is that correct ? How many days will I need to soak the tank with PP? How do I get rid / neutralise the PP after the process is done ? |

I did not really bother about dosage. Just add until you see the water turns to light purple or even dark purple, as with your preference as you do not have fish in the tank.
PP will kill ALL bacteria, including the good ones. |

Yes, add till the color stays. But if your tank has high organic content you will need a lot, especially when you leave the substrate and plants in there.
