my first 2 feet tank!

Upon several thoughts and planning,

I've finally decided to decomm the 2 tanks in the living room (deskboy 450 and 26cm front curved tank) as i find it a hassle to monitor 2 tanks in the living room (and 1 tall cube shrimp tank in my room) especially when it comes to a weekly WC which is very tedious, so i've decided to merge all the fishes into this new 2 feet tank~

Thus re-using most of the old equips, plants n substrate.
Only bought new tank and lighting + 1 background & 2 foreground plants.

• Tank : 2 feet (60cm x 30cm x 36cm)
• Main Filter : Gex Slim Filter L (HOF) with 4 slots for filter media
• "Pre" Filter : Gex Power Corner Filter F1 (Internal)
• Filter media : ISTA ammonia remover & quartzite glass (taken up 2 slots)
• Lighting : Aqua Zonic Super Bright Extendable LED Light Freshwater and Planted Tank 55-65cm (18.72watts)
• Substrate for background : Gex 水草一番サンド (aquatic plant best sand)
• Gravel for foreground : ANS NatureSand Sunset Yellow Sand (soaked n washed a few times)
• Plants & stuffs : Java fern, Java moss tied on driftwood, rocks, Anubias nana, and 2 front unknown plants growing on wiremesh (its growing fast!) and 1 spring onion lookalike tall background plant
• Thermometer: UP aqua digital thermometer
• Additional Conditioner : Mosura Old Sea Mud Powder (for background soil)
• Additional Info : used established filter media and tank water about 15-20%, 40% aged water, 40% tap water with Azoo 11 In 1 Super Bio-Bacteria & Sera Aquatuner

can anyone ID these 2 plants?


"island-feel", to create a natural and bright sandy "beach" effect lol
as i wanna add in corydoras ~


scaping done, preparing to shift tank and transfer water~


rocks are added to blend in between both soil n sand, so it won't get messy overtime that easily

top-view of foreground plants, really growing well.. i hope that i don't have to inject CO2 at all.. but shall see how it goes...

current fauna in tank:
Top: 5 lampeye killi & 6 white cloud mountain minnow
Mid: 15 ember tetras
Bottom: 2 small oto?

waiting to add:
Top/Mid: 13 neon tetra, 3 red balloon platy (8 fry) both in separate breeding tanks

soon to purchase:
Bottom: 4-6 small corydoras, few snails?


any advise on the stocking level?

My 2 cts. Scaping looks alright, only the selection of plants.. hmmm

1) That big plant on the left at the back is a terrestrial plant. It will not grow well in submerged form. Look for aquatic plants only.

2) The two plants in front on wire mesh are actually stem plants. They should be placed at the back if you decided to keep this plants.

would appreciate if you have the names of those 2 plants..

i should have read up more before i bought those..

just wondering if i need CO2 injection for those 2 stem plants

should i also change the spray bar orientation from back to front flow, to left to right flow?

bcoz my main hang on back filter is doing the back to front circulation flow... thats why i kept the spray bar same direction of flow..



the red color circle is the spray bar on top, and the red color circle at the right bottom is the filter inlet ..

as of yesterday morning...


did this morning before i left for work.. the stem plants are shifted to the back, and removed the non-aquatic plant... moss which are tied on driftwood are separated from anubias barteri and its shifted to the front, with bamboo cave while the anubias barteri is shifted to the right side together with the petites~

my main concern now is the temperature of water... as my Gex compact cooling fan which i reuse it from my cube tank is underpowered and couldn't really cool down the temperature... it was 29.3 last night! and dropped to 28.6 this morning

usually would maintain at 28 to 28.5

any recommendations on the cooling fan?

ANS, ISTA, Dymax, UP-aqua, mr aqua, kotobuki ?
