The fan should blow the water surface.....
so there will be airflow and water evaporate which in turn will cool down the water....
most of the time...the lowest it can go by fan is 26C.....

Hey bro... last time bro higher was talking bout blowing out of the tank for a greater cooling effect. I do not know the thermodynamics behind it, but apparently with a airtight top, the blowing out does create some kind of vacuum effect which is more effective in cooling. Something bout evaporation of water caused by lower air pressure or something..

I have been searching high and low for scientific documentation on this subject, but cannot find anything substantial on the internet. I think this concept is really interesting; maybe u can check with him for more details. Lemme noe too !!!

actually I have the same idea of blowing out, so got to check if bros here is blow in or out

anyway, IMHO, if the tank if fully covered, then blowing out should be the way to go.

but for mine, its a normal open-top setup... I dun really see the the fan working well leh.... no matter blowing in/out...

blowing the air out of a fully covered tank with small opening will have a better effect as the pressure going thru the small holes flows faster and thus cool better. i tried this method before and it works well.

Keep a watch on your water level also, drop very fast when using fan.

I found this website on methods of cooling a marine tank and I felt that it was relevant. Have a read.
