wow that is small for a female motoro to breed 12inch

your pond is big and im not sure if you would have had as much luck if the rays were in a smaller tank

did the male rip her to bits when the breeding took place ?

thanks for the info

thats why i started this thread to learn as much as possable breeding is not something i have done myself

but i think its every ray keepers dream to breed rays

its very subjective.
From what I have read male are usually the killers of other rays.
But tats whta i have read.
For mine also a pair (a male and a female)
for tank, AGAIN, I have seen 4 fter with only 1.5ft width keeping 4-5 rays (motoro) biggest female summore under going pregancy period. (I saw with my own eyes)
den I heard a bad news from a flend on his no so newly acquired motoro biggest amount the 4 (i think ) in his 6 x 2.5 x 2 tank passed away few days ago (deal curl)
so very difficult to have correct statistics i think

wow that is small for a female motoro to breed 12inch The male is very horny
your pond is big and im not sure if you would have had as much luck if the rays were in a smaller tank My friend tried it in a 200 gal and he was not that successful
did the male rip her to bits when the breeding took place ? Lots of bite marks but nothing serious
thanks for the info

My question

I am think of keeping rays in a pond width 5 ft, length about 7ft. Depth 3ft

Can?

The suction is right at the bottom, will this harn the rays which are bottom dwellers

Wanted to ask this questions for a long time

Thanks in advance

Firstly...bro T1KARMANN...good of you to speak up and say what many of us have felt for a long time. Like you, I've spoken my mind and got my points cut badly for that. Anyway, upps for you..

from the info that Jesto has just given us it looks like the size of tank/pond will help for sure when trying to breed rays if the tank/pond is BIG

the size pond you are thinking of setting up looks great to breed rays

if you think the bottom suction on the pond will be a problem why not try to put uplift pipes on the pond so the suction is then from the water surface

Size is okay. Should be able to house more than a pair. My pond uses a powerhead(placed at the bottom) as main pump and the rays seem to have no problem with it.

this is the strange thing we all know rays can sting but not many people seam to know of anyone who has been stung buy a ray in the home tank or pond

has anyone ever seen a ray use its tail to try to sting anything ?

i have only ever seen one very mad male motoro that would attack anything that entered the water the sting attack of this ray was very very fast
