Frustrated with my pix quality - pls give your feedbacks

ok, I am getting a little frustrated with my current pix quality.

My shots are far from great (that I know) but I am frustrated that my standard are just maintaining.

These are my current gears:

Canon G6
Canon 40D
EFS 17 - 85 len
EFS 60mm macro
EF 50mm f1.8
2 sets of 580MKII flash
ST-E2

Feel free to give your feedbacks and tell me what should I be focusing on to improve further......... but bear it in mind the type of fishes that I usually shoot. (I know Benny is gonna ask to to practice on zebra danio )

What exactly do you feel is missing from your current pix?

Just felt that my standard are just maintaining and I have seen way better quality produced by some other photographers.

ya, probably that's the main culprit - canon !!!

I do agree equipment will set certain limit but not in my case as I am still FAR
from "max-ing" the limit of my gears.

it is more likely to be my limited skill.

ashdavid's also canon. but his pics... maybe can try that EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro. saw quite alot of reviews on that lens. that will b my next lens.

my skill is worse. but its always gd that we r always not staisfied with our work. so that we will learn n improve.

so far i reliase that canon produces better quality than nikon

maybe it is the user... all your photos are better than mine

i prefer to blame nikon haha



anyway, can you provide the photos of "way better quality"?

then we try different lense/methods to shoot our fish until we can reach their clarity...

and come back here to share

Whats the main problem Ben? The camrea should not be the issue thats holding you back.

ya, that is precisely my point, Dave..

I am complaining that my skill / technique is stagnant at the same level for a looooooooooong while and I don't see "new" way to improve.
