Reds trio unwell
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp explains today’s team selection: “Gini and Ben are ill, and Ingsy, that happened yesterday, they came in and we sent them home immediately. “It’s always like this - you think you have no problems and then the next moment you have them. But we have enough players here and I’m fine.” Aside from Wijnaldum, Ings and Woodburn, long-term absentee Nathaniel Clyne is the only other Reds player unavailable to Klopp today. “Actually I don’t think so,” the boss replied, after being asked whether his squad has ever been so healthy. “We could change a few positions, of course, that’s how it is, but it’s not about having the opportunities it’s about having the right line-up. “We have that, I think, for today and then you look at the line-up of West Ham and you think ‘wow, how could they struggle in the league?’. “Arnautovic, Lanzini, Joao Mario, Evra back in the Premier League and all the others, Noble, it’s a really strong side and we know that it will be a tough job today.” |

Van Dijk and Lovren are Reds strongest duo - Matip is fortunate
Surprised that Klopp has tinkered with that centre-back combination again. Lovren and Van Dijk clearly Liverpool’s strongest duo on current form and Matip fortunate to earn a recall. Now the former Schalke defender needs to grasp his chance. The same goes for Oxlade-Chamberlain in midfield. We’ve not seen much of him in recent weeks and when he has played he’s not been particularly impressive. He needs to rediscover the swagger we saw in the win over Man City here. |
