I got mine from Brine Shrimps Direct the 80% hatch rate stock. Plenty of newly hatched baby brine shrimps within 18 - 24 hours.

Guess I was having the same issue previously.
I used my kept (unused) bbs I bought 6 years ago. Kept in a drawer. Nothing hatched after 3 days. Tried twice. Both failures. Went out to buy ocean free bbs 9g for 8 bucks. Bloody expensive. It says 95 and above hatching rate. Tried, the same thing happened. I even changed the salt to fine premium sea salt (100%) fit for human consumption. Also failed. Then I got bbs from Tarzan, he claimed sure will hatch. Well, sure enough it hatches within 16 hours. By 20 hours I think all hatched. Been feeding daily now. Only thing is I have only one hatchery that I bought from another member. Looking for another one that is similar. Really small and compact type. If anyone knows where to get (beside taobao) please let me know. Cheers. |

My recent experience is to play around with amount of salt.
Around 25-30 gram of salt for 1 litre of water seems to be good start. For one source of bbs, I tried 50 gram of salt of 1 litre, then 24 hours of hatching is not good enough, it requires 48 hours of hatching. Then change it to 25 gram of salt for 1 litre of water, 24 hours is good enough. Cheers Chiu Quote:

I only played around with different salt content, salinity, when I used 70% or 80% hatchrate bbs long time ago. Nowadays, I don't need to vary the salinity because I use 90% hatchrate bbs.
