My simple 2ft Garden of Eden

After procrastinating for far too long, I've finally come around to setting up this thread. With the recent interest surging in me to keep wild discus, I really wanted to start this thread, since the setup will be decommed as soon as my new tank arrives.

I used a 2nd-hand Coral Reef Aquarium braceless tank for the setup. This tank was bought over from another bro cheaply to be used as a feeder quarantine tank for my monster comm. Since converting the comm to BFs and MP feeds, this tank had been lying around empty. Decided to do a serious clean-up and to my surprise, the condition of the tank turned out to be even better than I thought, almost perfect in fact. Hence the decision was made to decomm my previous 1.5ft in favor of this 2ft

The tank in question, post clean-up.

Laying out the base with lava rock chips, bacteria powder and some root tabs. Somewhat excessive, considering I'm just keeping some simple plants, but hey, they were lying around and I'd gotten them for free.

I'm using ADA's New Amazonia, which I've used in previous setups, so I know more or less what to expect from the workings of the soil's ability.

I've lost the middle sets of pics, detailing the wood selection and arrangement process, due to some problems with the retrieving process. I shall have to skip here to the initial scape just 3 days after planting.

As I was using back the old media and water from my previous 1.5ft, I took the risk of transferring some of the fauna directly into the new setup immediately after planting was completed and before I'd started the cycling process. Monitored the parameters over the course of 2 weeks and was quite satisfied that my Nitrogen Cycle had not resetted. I began adding tankmates shortly after, over the course of a few weeks. Thanks to Chris@AquaHobby and JR@JZX for their great help in choosing the fauna for me.

WC Redline Torpedoes. Really attractive fellows, with the bright red streak, yellow tips and striking black markings.

A FTS then, prior to a slight revamp of the foreground patch.

Sorry for the poor pics. I'm still none too skilled at fiddling with this DSLR yet. Especially so, when it comes to taking small fishes.

Will add in the current pics sometime later in the day. Some minor changes to the setup. Thanks for viewing and all feedack welcome!

Getting my new setup end of Feb, so everything in here will go in there. Should be at least a 3'+ length (actually a 4' but with side overflow). Prob 39" x 20" x 24". Should be enough space then? Am going to decomm this tank then through a mass sale.

bro, since u putting it near the windows. do prepare to battle for algae problem in the near future..

Bro, the redline fish is nice and are how much is one and are they aggresive towards tetra and rummy nose.
