I bought one of these ... died in 3 days.

He ran out of the tank and something fell on him. All I found was a squished snail.

I would think that the snail doesn't like your water parameters hence he ran out of it. Usually, the snails are commando crew for newly established tanks. If the snails hide in their shell for long periods of time and or decides to escape the tank, it usually means bad news. Have a look at your tank again and check the water parameters. It will only do you good to check.

That's a monster snail! Biggest I've had was close to reaching only 2.5cm...
