The way the policy makers are heading, if we don't vote in more opposition to deny them 2/3 majority, don't be surprised "putong hua" will become 1st language and "tagalog" will become mother tongue.

The only thing buzzing now is the Casinos.

In ten years time, most factories would have closed down esp the smaller players due to structural unemployment (have jobs but cant find the right pple with the skill set) and foregin labour restrictions. Finance and legal services sector hollow out due to the pull factors of other regional markets like HK and shanghai (where pay is better) hence leading to brain drain. offshore and petrochemicals will stagnant as China revs up its refining and downstream activities and the energy majors shift refining capacity closer to their consumers. Pharma sector will continue to do well due to patent infringment concerns elsewhere.

Singapore will be a mega tourist destination like macao but perhaps slightly better as we have nice beaches at sentosa, more attractions zoo, night safaris, underwater world and the latest garden in the park etc. New service sectors like pawn shops, license money lenders, spa and saunas will become more prevalent and will be a sunrise industry for Singapore. Construction industry will continue to flourish as we invite more and more casinos to come and built mega resorts.

If i were to place a bet, i will move into gaming related sectors.
