DPM Teo Chee Hean: "Most Singaporeans Can Accept a ‘Certain Amount’ of Immigration"
DPM Teo believes most Singaporeans can accept a ‘certain amount’ of immigration
http://temasektimes.wordpress.com/20...f-immigration/ Singapore’s declining population growth is a constant challenge to the government, but it is not an insurmountable problem, said Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also Minister in Charge of population policies. Speaking in Parliament on Monday, Mr Teo observed that the citizen population will shrink and get older if Singapore’s fertility rate remains low and Singapore does not accept more immigrants. Despite rising concerns among Singaporeans at the relentless influx of immigrants, Mr Teo believes most Singaporeans can accept a population that is complemented by a ‘certain amount’ of immigration, and a foreign workforce of ‘some numbers.’ He added that the government is taking Singaporeans’ ‘concerns’ seriously as they prepare a White Paper on Population, to be released by year’s end. Mr Teo had earlier exhorted Singaporeans to make some efforts to ‘integrate’ with the newcomers so as to make them feel welcomed, accepted and happy in Singapore. |

I believe most Singaporeans will welcome those foreigners with real talents to work and bring value to Singapore. Not anyhow bring in any Tom, D1ck, Harry and giving out "FREE" PR like no tomorrow. Would say most of the foreigners brought in have no real talents, company profit is top priority in most cases. Looks like TCH is still deaf to the citizens pleads.
Low fertility rate? What is the cause? Jobs and education being robbed by the crazy influx of foreigners. Parents can't secure a job, children can't secure a place in school, who in the right mind will want to have children? And what's this sh1t of "Singaporeans to make some efforts to ‘integrate’ with the newcomers so as to make them feel welcomed, accepted and happy in Singapore"? They come to our country, they follow the country laws and rules, and they should be the one to integrate into our society, not the other way round. No wonder Singaporeans feel that they are treated as 2nd class citizens in their own country. Last edited by .Hack; 16-05-2012 at 10:39 AM. |

Don't these pple like to assume (making an ASS out of U and ME) and tell us half the story?
Do a public poll, a transparent one! Than let the nation see the outcome. Else all talk is just crap. |

instead of giving out scholarships so freely, why not try to curb the rising childcare costs for a start. own citizens dont want to help, instead use taxpayers money to 'give out' to foreigners
