The United States county jails are notoriously hard place to be in. The "innocent" are held until their court cases are heard.

So, if you are small in size, and you are targetted by the big nut case blacks, you are sure gonna suffer like hell.

This is a very hard place to live, he may even die, if unlucky.

After a prisoner is sentenced, they will move to a prison. This is a different place altogether.

I think over here, the county jail is known an remand prison.
