i see, for a egg tumbler, which means the eggs are moving within the chambles, seed shrimps have no chance of getting hold of them. The smaller base of the chamber compare with the top is to prevent the eggs to be siphoned. If the base is bigger then top, it would act like a gravel cleaner, you could imagine the eggs got suck up and held on top mesh. anyway, your idea may be better, hope to see your practical implementation |

Nice...so the aim is to keep the eggs moving about and tumbling then.
Means we'll need to tease all the eggs apart. I noticed the eggs are normally clumped together when removed from a dead female. Teasing them apart is a tricky business...broke a few eggs before |

I never attempt to separate them. When I remove it from the dead shrimp, a lot will just come loose, some becomes individual, some may remain linked. Those that are linked, may all turn moldy if one goes bad. Anyway, this design is really simple and practical. I think I'll try to diy a piece and keep on standby. Did have a dead pregnant shrimp recently. |

IMO, for all hatchery to work well, eggs have to be detached individually to minimise fungus from an affected eggs to pass to others. yes, to detach them apart need careful hands and has to work on a clean surface without having fingers touching eggs.
