Nope. Its actually quite alright. considering u have almost reach 3 watt per gallon. (3 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 51gal.)
Now it really boils down to what u are planning to keep in your tank. A fan would be advisable to help keep the temperature down. Cheers. |

By taking in consideration of substrate, plants and other decor u have in the tank. The watt/gal will not be accurate. As ur tank is only 1.5ft tall, ur lighting is consider to be strong. Spot algae will like to pay a visit. Try to reduce the lighting period(6to8hrs) will help in reduce the chance of getting spot algae.
Happy planting |

with the increased lights, you to pay more attention to nutrients available for plant growth, especially co2.

I'm using two MII 4x36watts for my three ft too. No worries should be ok, just don't put your nanas if you have any directly under the light. CO2 important, fert regime too as you are approaching 3w per gal. Lighting period now about 8 hrs if not a lot of spot aglae forming the last time I had them on for 12hrs.

read some of the articles here and especially this also, having the lights on for 4-5 hrs may not be enough for the photosynthesis to really kick in. go for at least 8hrs. |
