Cool Pl lights

what will happen if there is too much light in the tank...
I think of putting in 2 x 55w pl into my 2 ft 18" tall tank...
so that if next ime i upgrade tank still can use
but the problem is will it be too much for my tank?
what is the rating of pl light that will provide a good amount of light for my tank?
what will happen if there is too much light?

too much light and not enough of CO2 or fertilizer, might result in algea bloom
and not forgetting the heat also...
think what u can do is maybe you can remove 1 PL tube first...

Yah [C]irRuS, I also feel that 2 x 55W is too much for a 2 feet even one with 18" height. What about the 3 x 15W you mention? They should be fine.

With too much light as fireblade mentioned, will give you a big algae headache. Even my 55W I mention to you about, does give me problem if I don't balance don't balance my fert with CO2.

Personally I prefer 6400K rating, as the colour is more natural. But I have the magnum II rated at 8000K if I am not mistaken and FL rated at 6400K.

bro, 60L only about 15.8gallons.
110w would be almost 7wpg.

u need to minus away the volume taken up by the substrate and how full u fill the tank to get an accurate figure.

2ft x 1ft x 18inch tank filled to the brim gives you around 20+gallons.

u can use 110w if you can make sure co2 and nutrients are well taken care of. if not, 55w would suffice for most plants.
