im using those red slate chips and the uneaten food and shit gets trapped, so its a hassle, damn troublesome. how much do you have left?

Hi bro, if u are worry about trapped food, why don't you try red oyama pasted at the base of the tank? Bro desmondpeh is doing this.

Another alternative is u can use just a thin layer of substrate coupled with a wave maker to prevent uneaten food or debris being trapped.

Apart from 3M colorquartz, u can use the red substrate that bro washywashy is using now. Even though the grain size is much bigger than the colorquartz, i don't see any food trapped in his substrate. I guess the large amount of bichirs in his tank might play a significant role too.
