How bloody bad can our fullbacks be? This should be the last time Gomez plays for us at rightback, and Moreno needs to be sold in the summer.

Salah up for for PFA Player of the Year prize
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will find out on Sunday whether he has won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. The Egyptian was included on the six-man shortlist for the prestigious accolade last week, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva (Manchester City), David de Gea (Manchester United) and Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur). Salah is enjoying one of the greatest debut campaigns in Reds history, having scored 41 goals in just 46 appearances since joining the club from AS Roma last summer. The PFA Players’ Player of the Year - which is voted for by PFA members from the 92 Premier League and Football League teams - will be announced tonight during a special awards ceremony at Grosvenor House in London. The last Liverpool player to take the honour was Luis Suarez in 2013-14. |

Salah wins PFA Players' Player of the Year award
Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA Players' Player of the Year. The Liverpool forward’s stunning debut season at Anfield was recognised by PFA members from the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs at a ceremony in London on Sunday evening. A phenomenal tally of 41 goals in 46 appearances for his club so far this term helped Salah beat off competition from Manchester City trio Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Leroy Sane, as well as David de Gea (Manchester United) and Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), to land the prestigious accolade. Speaking after collecting the trophy, the Reds’ No.11 said: “I feel great. I work hard and I’m very happy to win it. “My personal thing is to win something with the team. I always think about the team, I don’t think about myself, so the most important thing for me is to win something with the team. “We are very close now, in the [Champions League] semi-final, so hopefully we’re going to win it.” When asked what has helped him maintain such outstanding form throughout the campaign, Salah replied: “I think the team. The team helped me a lot, the way we play, they help me, they pass me the ball a lot. So the team help me a lot, honestly, to perform and be in that shape.” The Egyptian is the seventh Liverpool player to receive the PFA prize, following Luis Suarez (2013-14), Steven Gerrard (2005-06), John Barnes (1987-88), Ian Rush (1983-84), Kenny Dalglish (1982-83) and Terry McDermott (1979-80). |

Klopp congratulates Salah on 'unbelievable honour'
Jürgen Klopp has congratulated Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool forward won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. Salah collected the trophy at a ceremony in London on Sunday after coming out on top in the poll of his peers from the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs. The Reds' prolific No.11, who took his goal tally for the season to 41 in just 46 appearances on Saturday, saw off the challenges of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sane, David de Gea and Harry Kane to become the seventh Liverpool player to land the prize. And Klopp has commended Salah’s achievement, with the manager telling Liverpoolfc.com: “It is really rare in football that you win as an individual, an individual trophy, because it is a team game. “But in this, the team lives from personalities, from characters, from players and I am really happy that I had the opportunity to be your manager in the last year. “I think this award, you are voted for from all the other players in all the leagues in England, is an unbelievable honour so you can be really proud and your family can be really proud. “On behalf of the LFC family, again, congratulations. It was a fantastic ride so far, but you know we have still a few yards to go. With the best wishes for your future here at LFC, [from] your manager. “And now, please grab the trophy and come home - we play on Tuesday! See you then.” |
