the barney is spot on.

no need add epsom salt...that's for bloat /air retention. normal salt (NaCl) is the one u need to add as an antiseptic.

adding a UV sterilizer helps way more than heater.

years ago when i had the same issue due to negligence all i did was daily WC + change wool and rinse media with tank water + salt + UV sterilizer. Cured within a week.

Both Barney and Shermie already said it. Epsom salt is for internal cures, Aquarium salt is for external cures.

Bring up the salt to 0.3%. Any higher aro might feel skittish. I had a open scale aro before. Heavy dosage (0.3%) closed up the scale within a day. No heater (locally in sg we seldom need heater and it risks of cooking your fishes due to failling heater).

If it's me i will just change wool and not touch the medias. At this critical moment it could be risky to touch the bbs.

For your case salt up and just keep a close look. If still doesn't close up soon bring the big gun in (medicine). Can't advise on medicine, let other bros fill you in on that.
