Recently due to weather it seems, many bbs suffer from early death....shops like seaview don't even stock them anymore. Am hatching bbs but feeding them almost immediately to my scarlet badis though....so no patient to grow them to adulthood |

You are planning to feed BBS to adult bettas? I believe its too small for them.
The adult bettas won't eat the BBS |

seems easier to feed bbs cos you can just catch them when you need.
but if really too small i need to find some place or someone else who sells adult ones in small quantities |

My BBS hatchery is in a 2-litre soda drink bottle, those big Pepsi, Coca Cola, Sprite or whatever brand lah. Mustafa sells them. So for the amount of BBS for hatching, I just simply use the 2.5ml spoon meant for medicine. Within 18 - 24 hours, the eggs will hatch. Once hatched, I will feed the BBS to my guppies the necessary amount. I will use the BBS net to net the BBS, collect the BBS and put the salted water back into the hatchery. If my mood is good, I will scoop all the egg shells and remove them from the hatchery, otherwise, I simply don't care about the egg shells. I can keep the BBS alive for about 36 - 48 hours with slower aeration after the hatching. Others may have different methods too. Here is the medicine spoon which I use to scoop the eggs from the tin. I use Grade A BBS eggs from Brine Shrimp Direct. |
