Bro

Thanks for the great infos. Amazingly to learn that a 15" pregnant ray can consume 1.5 kgs of mp a day. Could that be the reason why my mother ray is not able to produce more pups.

Regards

Bro

Just to add,
the pups don't born at one go....they come at intervals.
If i remember correctly, over a period of 12 to 24 hrs.

Regards

The amount consumed depends on the number of pups she is carrying...its the amounted quoted was based on my observation of 2 X 15-16 inch female that carried 9-11 pups each. These females have also produced smaller batched of 2-5 pups, food consumption is comparatively lesser.

I am not sure why the number of pups vary so much in the same observed specimen. Its something i like to understand as well.

maybe thats why the ray's teeth are designed in such a way as to munch the food into bits and pieces so that the juvenile rays can take the food as well when the ray mama eaten

Wow....1.5Kg of mps
Dats if the mamas are trained on mps....if not how?

I'm so lucky my 8 inch male can be fed with tubifex worms.
My female err....not sure wats she eats...seldom see her eat...but tummy always big big...weird.

About the amount of food...well dats scary but the size of the tanks are alot more scary.....U guys really have lotsa of space...
Does a pair really need a huge tank/FGT....10x6x4?
